My new dream

Summary:
The fireplace scene in S1E6 but different
After Skycity’s fiasco, Jesse, Petra, Ivor, and Lukas found themselves stranded in ‘The Portal Hall’ as they dubbed it. The quartet chose a portal on a whim and ran to it, hoping it’d take them home, a dumb bet between Petra and Lukas. Classical
Jesse and Petra were in the library of the only safe location in this world, a mansion with a murder on the loose, there were four suspects: Stampy, Dan, Lizzie and…
“Oh come on! This is nuts!” Lukas complained
“You had a button too!” A redhead by the name ‘Cassie’ replied as she turned to Jesse “It’s your buddy’s turn next”
Petra chuckled and shook her head “I’ll leave you to it” she nudged Jesse as she exited the room.
Jesse simply rolled her eyes and walked towards the fireplace, the blonde followed along.
“Hey Jesse” He said at her side
“Ah, my final suspect. How are you doing?”
“Eh… It is just non-stop whispering and rumors out there. Me and Ivor have been pretty much sticking to ourselves” He sighed “I’m not so happy about being a suspect, it really ruins my reputation” He said half-jokingly
Jesse chuckled “We wouldn’t want that, right?” She shook her head “These people have so much drama going on. It’s hard to tell what’s about the flint and steel, what’s about the white pumpkin…”
“Yeah seems like a pretty complicated case…” He turned to look at the fire, unaware of Jesse’s gaze. She stared silently at him, there was something about him that she simply didn’t understand.
The way the embers bounced all around his face, making his blonde hair seem golden, and his eyes…blue has always been her favorite color.
What was it about him?
The silence remained for a few more minutes, the only sounds being the rain and the crackling.
Lukas sighed “Hey, I trust you alright?” He smiled “If there’s anyone that can untangle this case, it’s you”
The woman’s eyes widened, she was never good with praise, she found it quite overwhelming actually. Either a byproduct of being a laughing stock for so long or just a her thing
The first few weeks of being the official leader of the new order she found herself stressed out over that, she felt ungrateful but in reality, it was just a new thing for her. She never had gotten that much praise in such short spans of time.
But hearing him say it? It wasn’t overwhelming, it was… butterflies in her stomach, blush creeping up on her cheeks. Hearing him out of all people made her to finally come to the realization. The realization that she had fallen deep down for him
Even deeper than bedrock
“Ha, thanks Lukas” She choked out as she looked over to the fire one last time, trying to process this newfound information until she finally patted the man’s shoulder
“Come on, suspect. It’s time to return to the others”
